Like a lot of DnD players, I started playing young with friends Keith Patterson, Alex Pearlstein, Marc McCauley and of course, we were doing it wrong. It wasn't until I spent a week at a lake cabin in Maine with my cousins and at night it was channel 5 or DnD. Besides learning the rules, my characters abilities and how to work as a team, it was also where I learned that playing as bad guys has bad karmic results, namely angry villagers and bounties on your head. DnD gave way to Star Frontiers, Twilight 2000, Car Wars, Gamma World, GURPS, Marvel Superheroes, Chill and finally settling on the extremely underrated, Top Secret. TS was a spy game with a simple combat system and campaigns that were often 'ripped from the headlines'. The two main characters, Ted Tyler (a black James Bond who never missed) and Owen Darkwind (an edgey rookie who screws up everything). Eventually TS went back in the box, on the shelf and the dice lay dormant...
Then one day, my old DM mentioned that Wizards of the Coast was releasing a new version of DnD and wondered if I'd be up for trying it. Now we mixed in the old TS crew, added some college friends and co-workers. Our party has grown to the current roster on the right but due to life, work and location we almost never all play at the same time. Our DM posts recaps of our adventures on the Band of Jenkins 2.0 Blog which also has polls you can vote on to help steer the party towards a certain mission. Its a fun read, so check it out.
Below I placed a slideshow of some pics that come from our adventures or that we have some random connection to. There is also a mix of celebrities that have publicly admitted or discussed how they play/ed DnD...
