The Imaginary Wrestling Association has been around since 1985 and is a blend of Pro Wrestling, D&D and the US Postal Service. People who want to play, create a wrestler, select 15 holds from a list of 90 and compete in leagues with other managers (players) for that league's titles. These bulletins come out every few weeks and list the results, champions and the interviews and, sneak attacks within the Trash Talk section that help shape the personality of the wrestlers. Some leagues have a Commissioner who helps to stimulate activity, run events / tournaments and act as the 'booker' of the league's angles and talent. I came into the IWA in 1987 in the first Clawing Cat League (CCL) with The Hawaiian soon after created the Masked Marvel, Victor Von Snapp and Superstar Rick Riley as I explored other leagues. After I saw the Commissioner Reports put together by Rich Farrell, Alex Dallas and Leroy Pearson, I became one myself in the CCL and the Battle Royal League. I pride myself on the reports and you can see the creative angles and plots I try to put together, but the real help is from some of the most talented players in the game who compete in the BRL and LWL. I really appreciate the efforts they make to make the league great.
Over the years I have created many wrestlers, but here is who I have now;
BRL
Maddog Dick Jackson (since 1989)
Barry USA Stevens (since 1987)
Fatty the Butcher (since 2010)
Hot $tuff Adam Ca$h (since 2010)
PKL
Loaded Rick Riley (since 1987)
Victor Von Snapp (since 1987)
LWL
The Arabian Dream Ali Atari (since 2011)
If you are curious about the game, drop me a line and I will answer any of the questions you may have.
Anyone who plays seriously, needs to be on this board. Join in and look up the League Boards for the BRL and LWL but also take the time to check out some of the other top leagues in the IWA. The XPL, GRL,and ASL are all action packed and then there are leagues like the BBL, KKL and CWL that are looking for new faces. Be advised some parts of the Dungeon are sometimes NSFW.
This site is built by IWA players for IWA players and offers a great historical look at some of the greatest managers ever.
THE IWA HOUR
Every so often, the Riley Matthews Show take the time to talk 'IWA' with some of the players to discuss the memories, moments and rivalries that make the game so great.
In 1987 I asked the IWA to put me in the four oldest leagues, so I wound up in the ASL, BRL, GML and PPL. When the GML folded, I moved to the BRL and have been there ever since. Frank Snow and I team up to produce the BRL's Commissioner's Report and you can see an example of our work below in the 400th celebration report that is 14 pages long and recaps the history of the BRL. Join in the fun.
The concept is simple, one wrestler per player in the LWL which is built on the characters, angles and story lines that drive the show. If you are looking for ONE league to play in, the LWL is the one to come to and I hope you will. Check out a few of the LWL Reports below.
